During the summer of 2008, I completed a short contract with Seabotix Ltd., a leading manufacturer of small but very capable ROV systems. I worked to provide Seabotix’s engineers with a procedure for obtaining accurate underwater weight and balance predictions for their underwater ROV designs (pre-prototype) using Solidworks model information, and a series of simple custom-designed tools (Solidworks API and Excel macros). These tools take advantage of advanced Solidworks functionality, an easily maintained Excel spreadsheet and some rather straight-forward hydrostatic principles.

I also provided advice on Solidworks 3D model organization, document management (revision control & accurate BOM generation), and best engineering practices using Solidworks.
